Natural Approach:
- Micronutrient Analysis: Blood test to measure functioning micronutrients; identified magnesium deficiency.
- Urine Toxic Metals Test: Detected elevated mercury, lead, and thallium; underwent a 3-month heavy metal detox.
- Hormone Testing:
- 24-Hour Complete Hormone Test: Results showed high cortisol and cortisone levels, low estrogen metabolism, and high toxic estrogen. Indicated significant stress and risk factors for health issues.
- Interventions: Implemented supplements to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, and balanced hormones. Adjusted diet to reduce inflammation (eliminated gluten, processed foods; focused on whole foods).
Chiropractic Care: Regular adjustments for maintenance.
Fertility Acupuncture: Completed a 6-month program that provided valuable insights and support.
Medical Approach:
- Routine Tests: Blood tests, Pap smear, gynecological ultrasounds, endometrial biopsy (to check for abnormal lining).
- Hysterosalpingogram: Investigated uterine cavity and fallopian tube health; required follow-up to confirm right tube was open.
- Reproductive Specialist Evaluations:
- Various blood tests for hormone levels.
- Sonohysterogram for uterine cavity assessment.
- Laporoscopic Surgery to test for Endometriosis. It took begging and convincing and they doctors went forward and tested me. I had stage 4 endometriosis which shocked all of us as I have no symptoms (must have been the clean, low inflammatory diet).
IVF Journey:
- Clomid Treatment: Used to induce ovulation over several cycles with monitored testing.
- Intrauterine Insemination (IUI): Three IUI cycles completed, followed by IVF due to previous attempts not resulting in pregnancy.
- IVF Procedures:
- First IVF attempt: BFN (Big Fat Negative).
- Second attempt: BFP (Big Fat Positive) leading to the birth of our son, Owen.
- Third attempt ended in miscarriage.
- After the passing of my mom to Breast Cancer we used our remaining embryos. Just before my 40th Birthday I was blessed with our third son, Luke! (Our 2nd son was a blessed surprise!)
Genetic Testing:
- MTHFR Testing: Found to be a carrier of a gene mutation affecting folate absorption; now taking targeted supplements.
- Hashimoto’s Testing: No autoimmune thyroid issues detected.
Conclusion: After extensive treatments and evaluations, we opted for IVF, ultimately achieving pregnancy with our son and learning valuable lessons throughout the process.
